I found this free 7 week beekeeping course! They send you one lesson each week for 7 weeks. I'm excited because I'm going to a beekeeper's meeting in town Tuesday night. I have finally decided to go for it! I have wanted to try beekeeping for many years, and my husband is no longer resisting me on it, so I'm going to. (He's afraid of bees) I have been doing some reading on beekeeping, an ancient practice, as well as revisiting shepherding and gardening. I am laying down the plan for a big garden for awhile, as it never works here for me. I battle wind, poor soil, and it just works better for me to do a small kitchen garden and lots of containers.

I love the portions of the Old Testaments where you see the very agragarian picture of flocks, herds, fields, vineyards, etc. Anything country and farmish get me excited. Always have. So, I am thrilled to finally be researching bees with the lure of my own raw honey and wax~

The October meeting last Friday night was alot of fun. We discussed Unit Studies: the how and why. Hopefully we all got fired up to give it a try!

I had to post a picture of the beatiful cake we enjoyed, made by one of the moms. She is a cake decorator (obviously) and I just had to take a picture of the gorgeous thing before we devoured it.

Next meeting will be Notebooking! I am excited for this, because I love notebooking, and also because I am not the one presenting this time!

We discussed Nature Study this month, and it was lively! Many of us had already done some kind of nature studies in our homeschhols, but there were a couple of moms who hadn't, or had only dabbled. I think almost all of us ended the evening really inspired to dust off our field guides and get outside!

We won't meet again for the support group evenings until next fall, but we are planning a Nature Study walk fieldtrip, and a possible trip to Fort Simco (sp?), as well as a possible mom's retreat here in August with horseback riding, good food, and a DVD driven message.

April 22nd we will have out final Meeting for this school year. It goes by so quickly. May 15th is graduation, and I hope many of you will come and show your support of the graduates and their families. Getting all the way thru highschool is an accomplishment that should be celebrated! I myself have a graduate this year, and it is exciting. The Naches Grange @ 4 pm. There's a potluck and swing dance afterward, so bring your whole family and let the kids see that it is possible to graduate!

Wow- our little group has really grown!

I was blessed lastnight to count 22 of you at the support group. Thank you for coming and thank you for inviting others who need us as much as we need them. I really love having a house full of ladies over! It's a blast, and my kiddos don't mind at all either because homeschool moms bring the best treats and snacks!

Have a great month of homeschooling those children God has given you stewardship over- you are all doing great! Even on your worst day you are doing the best for them! No kidding.

WHERE IS JUSTICE?

Part 1

Micah 6:8, "What does the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?"

One of the primary attributes of God is that He is a God of Justice. Oh yes, He is a God of mercy and compassion too. But, if He were not just, He would not be God. The Bible says that...

He is called the God of justice. (Isaiah 30:18)

He is known by His justice. (Psalm 9:16; Exodus 7:5; Ezekiel 5:8)

All His ways are justice. (Deuteronomy 32:4; Proverbs 8:20)

He loves justice. (Psalm 33:5; 37:28)

His throne is established on justice and judgment. (Psalm 89:14; 97:2;

He guards the paths of justice. (Proverbs 2:8)

He is exalted in justice. (Isaiah 5:16)

He lives in justice. (Jeremiah 4:2)

He exercises justice in the earth. (Jeremiah 9:24; Ezekiel 5:8, 15)

He is filled with justice. (Micah 3:8)

He delights in justice. (Jeremiah 9:24)

Because we are created in His likeness, He wants us to be just people too. Micah 6:8 says, "What does the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?" If justice is to be part of our lives, where should it start? God wants it to start in the home.

In the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, God said that he would not hide from Abraham what He was going to do. Why? Because of the way he parented his children. Genesis 18:17-19 says, "For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord to do justice and judgment..." Abraham ordered his household and trained his family in the ways of justice. Justice is close to God's heart. It is the foundation of family life. It is the primary principle of parenting.

Justice is the use of authority to uphold what is right and fair. It is acting as a judge and rendering the proper verdict--God's verdict. Because justice is missing from many homes today, it is missing in the nation. Often people do not understand justice because they have not experienced it. They have not experienced godly discipline in the home that teaches them right from wrong. They may have been spanked, but out of frustration and anger, and therefore have not understood righteous judgment.

Children need to know true justice growing up or they will never understand who God is. Many people have a god of their own imagination. He is whoever they want Him to be. He is tolerant of whatever they want to do. He has to fit into their ideas. We can all be guilty of falling into this trap. But God is God. He is who He is. We must understand this and give this understanding to our children. We do this by teaching them to have a clear demarcation of what is right and wrong in the sight of God.

In the book, Surveying the Evidence, the authors state, "If atheism is not normal, why do certain people become unbelievers? First of all, it is well known that the seeds of atheism can be planted early in life. One of the most dangerous contributions a parent can make toward the spiritual delinquency of his child is a failure to instill within him a wholesome respect for authority. If the parent neglects to set the proper example as an authority figure, or refuses to exercise discipline with love, he might well be rejected as an authority-figure by his child, and thus, by transference, the child ultimately may come to disdain all authority, including the Supreme Authority, God." *

The Bible tells us that if we do not discipline our children, we honor them above God. Read 1 Samuel 2:29 and 3:13.

Topic: A Day in the Life

It was decided that we would all (as willing) share a maximum one page "A Day in the Life" example of a typical day in our homeschools. Everyone is always curious, so it should be alot of fun.

Nobody should judge, compare, or be critical or feel insecure.

God made us all unique, our kids, spouses, and households and styles are all different and that's a beautiful thing!

IT TAKES A TURNING

IT TAKES A TURNING

Psalm 119:5-6, "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord; and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.."

As we read this Scripture, we feel God's heart for families. God longs for the turning of the hearts to children. This should also be our prayer and longing.

We know that that this Scripture was fulfilled in the life of John the Baptist of whom it was said, "He shall be filled with the Holy Ghost... And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God. And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."

God chose John the Baptist to prepare the people for the first coming of Jesus by turning the hearts of the fathers to the children. But Jesus is coming a second time and the way must be prepared again. God is going to do it the same way, by turning the hearts of the fathers (and this also includes the mothers) back to the children. This issue is so important to the heart of God that He says that if it doesn't happen, He will smite the earth with a curse. This is not something we can take lightly.

God started this human race with the mandate, "Be fruitful and multiply" and He is going to finish it the same way. God hasn't changed His attitude toward children. He loves children. He calls them a blessing. When Jesus was on earth he embraced the children to Him and severely reprimanded those who turned them away. How can we be followers of God and yet have a different attitude about children than He does?

Are we on God's agenda or the devil's agenda? Truly it is time for God's people to turn back to His ways. Will we turn or will we have the curse?

Malachi 3:18 says, "Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serves God and him that serves him not." Do you notice that it is in returning that we will have understanding and discernment? While we continue to live according to our own agenda, we often live in oblivion to what God really wants. It is when we turn from our own way and turn back to Him and obedience to His Word that we begin to understand truth we have not seen before. Discernment comes after turning.

It is time for us to turn from pride, stubbornness, prayerlessness, disobedience, mediocrity, passiveness and following afar the spirit of this world.

Jesus came to turn us away from ungodliness. "God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from his iniquities." (Acts 3:26)

"There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob." (Romans 11:26)

The Noble War

America's Big Two Beliefs shaped the entire revolutionary war. Their beliefs are what drew the thick, bold line of distinction between the American Revolution and the French Revolution.
Our founding fathers believed the source of moral law, which transcends all other laws, is the Creator. God gave certain "unalienable rights", that could not be taken away. Kings, rulers, political leaders, all are subject to the limitation of this moral law. What God has given, none should attempt to take away.
When men in authority try to rise above this truth, they attempt to rise to a God-like status, usurping authority that is not their's to grasp. When this happens, history showes that chaos ensues. People who acknowledge a higher moral law enescapably realize that all people have value and a right to liberty.
While the French Revolution fought a bloody, chaotic battle; the country running mad, foaming at the mouth with anarchy, to throw off government rule, America fought with a clearer, more noble purpose. Those who fought in the American Revolution fought for a government subject to a higher moral law. While it was indeed a war, with bloodshed and strife, it was a noble war, fought with a respect of law, a civilness.
If you look around at America today, you can see our liberties slowly encroached upon; stealthily being taken away one by one; we have regressed. While freedom and equality are still preached charismatically, religion is being suppressed, education, marriage and home-life are being taken over by a government no longer subject to moral law. Morality itself is largely discarded in favor or corruption and depravity.
History indeed repeats itself. And as the present-day government becomes its own entity, as rulers answer only to themselves, a top is spinning, and it is only a matter of time before the top stops and collapses. The question is: will it be a noble revolution, or a savage one, sinking us further into a parody of the country our founding fathers once envisioned?

Thanks to all of you for coming. We are really filling up the living room now.

Marti N. spoke on inspiring our children, and aligning them with other people and experiences (while keeping them safe) that are able to inspire them too.

Thanks Marti! You inspired us to inspire them!

Our next meting will be most likely the 3rd Thursday of February, and our topic is: "A Day in the Life"~ We are all going to share as succinctly as possible, a typical homeschool day in our lives. Short and sweet so everyone who wants to share, gets a chance.

I'll post the confirmed date in a week or two.

THE EASY WAY

Isaiah 44:20, "A deceived heart has turned him aside."

Have you read the story of Pilgrim's Progress? If so, do you remember when Christian was tempted to turn into Bypath Meadow? Faithful and Christian were weary and the King's Way was rough and stony. They were tired and their feet ached. They came to a stile where the fence divided the King's Way from Bypath Meadow. Bypath Meadow was a smooth, grassy path instead of the rough stony one--but best of all; it ran right alongside the Way of the King. They wouldn't be going in the wrong direction. They really wouldn't be turning away and they would be able to jump back over the fence if it veered in the wrong direction.

They turned aside to the easy path. But eventually a storm came and flooded the path, darkness came and they could not find the way back to the King's Way. They fell asleep and were seized by Giant Despair and his cruel wife, Diffidence. They were cruelly beaten and imprisoned for some time until God provided a way to escape.

This is how the enemy tempts us too. We would never veer right away from the Lord. Of course we want to obey and follow Him. But we are often tempted to take the easy path. We are tired of the sacrifice, heartaches and sleepless nights. We are tired of taking up our cross. We want it easy. We want everything to go our own way.

"Have another child? Help! Too much work. I want to take it easy. I want some rest." But does it really make life easier? More children results in more blessings, more entertainment in the home, more diversity, more built-in helpers and built-in friends.

"Do I really have to stop eating all that sugar and all those carbs? I love them. They're my comfort food." They may be the desirable way, but not in the end!

"I'm overwhelmed with all this homeschooling. I can't take it any longer. I'm sending them back to public school." Sure, it's the easier way. But what about the ungodly influence on your children? What about the subtle humanist brainwashing? What about the ungodly friends they may make? How will it affect their destiny?

The easy path takes us further and further away from the truth. If we take the easy way in our family, we'll begin to take the easy way in other areas too. We'll begin to rely on government, rather than being a free people and taking responsibility for ourselves. We'll become weak and no longer people of strength of character. And the long term result is bondage to dictatorship.

I was talking to a friend about a couple who are having marriage problems. "It's no use her going back to him until her heart wants to go back," my friend commented. "Oh no," I replied. "If she waits for her heart, she may never return!"

What does the Bible say in Jeremiah 17:9? "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Our heart can so easily deceive us. We don't stay in a marriage because our heart is happy and wanting to stay. We stay in a marriage, or go back to a marriage if we have left it, because it is the right thing to do--because of obedience and commitment.

No wonder there is so much divorce today. Everyone wants to take Bypath Meadow. They want the easy way out. Their focus is on looking after themselves. Everything revolves around self. "Poor me. He's not meeting my needs. He doesn't understand me." The excuses keep coming. But Marriage is not all about "me." Marriage is forgetting about myself and concentrating on how I can serve my husband and family. It's commitment to my vows. It's not giving in to deceptive feelings but sticking to the vision of building a godly generation. It continues in the face of hardship and frustration.

Marriage is more than two people. Marriage affects our children. It affects the extended family. It affects the church and everyone around us. It affects the generations to come--and eternity.

When we turn aside to the easy path, we enter into deviation, delusion and deception. It is only when we get back on the King's Highway of truth that we will be safe, even though we may face challenges and difficulties.

Don't be deceived by the easy path.

A public school teacher was arrested today at John F. Kennedy International Airport as he attempted to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a compass, a slide-rule and a calculator. At a morning press conference, the Attorney General said he believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-Gebra movement.

He did not identify the man, who has been charged by the FBI with carrying weapons of math instruction. "Al-Gebra is a problem for us," the Attorney General said. "They derive solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on tangents in search of absolute values. They use secret code names like 'X' and 'Y' and refer to themselves as 'unknowns', but we have determined that they belong to a common denominator of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country.

As the Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, "There are 3 sides to every triangle."

When asked to comment on the arrest, President Obama said, "If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes."

White House aides told reporters they could not recall a more intelligent or profound statement by the President. It is believed that the Nobel Prize for Physics will follow.

The party was a hit, with some new faces- we were so blessed to meet a few new ladies.
