April Meeting Is a Special One!

I'm pleased to be able to announce we have a special speaker for April's meeting. There is a popular Bible Study on Tuesday morning and the main teacher is Kathy Bricel. She is passionate and gracious and her teaching is encouraging. The sessions are recorded and available to listen to online at Grace of Christ Church here. The Biblestudy is called the Spirit-led Life.
Kathy has kindly agreed to encourage us with a message entitled "Seasons of Solitude".
Here's a short bio:
Kathy Bricel is on the other side of homeschooling. Her children are now in their twenties and out on their own. But much of her faith and their family culture was developed during the eight years they homeschooled their three boys. "Homeschooling wasn't at the forefront of my mind. First my husband asked me to consider it, and I thought, 'Are you crazy?' Then I knew the Lord was asking me, and I knew if God was asking, He had something good in it. So our family began the journey of homeschooling. It was during this time of homeschooling, that I felt like the one being schooled. God used it to disciple me by bringing me into a season of solitude, where my focused changed, my soul was healed and my needs were met in Him.
All homeschool parents are invited, as well as teenagers. We are a friendly group and would love to have you join us- as a matter of fact if you are just curious about homeschooling, you are invited!
The Foursquare Church on  40th    6:30pm
Coffee and tea are served, please bring a plate of goodies if you are able, such as crackers and cheese, fruit, cookies, nuts, or other easy food.

As usual feel free to bring a friend, any curriculum, books, magazines, etc. that you would like to give away, trade or sell. You are also invited to bring a treat to share at the support group meeting. Coffee will be served.
Our guest speaker is Liesl Mefford and the topic is Color Coding in teaching that encompasses every subject. This will be exciting for sure! Liesl tells us this is very helpful for struggling learners.

May 2014 meeting

We meet this Thursday 6:30 pm at the Foursquare church on 40th
This month we have a special speaker-

Here the credentials for Sarah Hunter, speaker for the homeschool mom's

-Tracy's former 4th grade student all grown up (I will be bringing a picture of Sarah as a fourth grader.)
-Degree from Western Washington University in Culinary Nutrition, which she created with permission from the University.
-Spent 4 months in Italy studying the significance of herbs they use there and the history surrounding them.
-Did her senior project for college in an elementary school in Bellingham where she helped them create a school garden, created recipes, menus, and meals.  Here goal was to teach students and teachers to think differently about the foods they were choosing to eat, and not just to eat because of convenience.
-Sarah took a class on oils and learned the healing aspects of them.
-Sarah has had a passion for the world that God has given us, and sees the benefits of using things grown in nature to nourish and heal our bodies.
-Sarah makes her own salves, oils creations, tinctures, and lip balms.
-She has worked as a flight attendant, but is currently on maternity leave.
-She attends Memorial Bible in Gleed.
She will be sharing some books that have inspired her to use herbs to both nourish and heal.  Sarah will demonstrate how easy it is to make either some or all of the following:  teas, tonics, oils, salves, and tinctures.  Those attending will either be allowed to make either one, or more of the following:  oil, salve, or tincture.  Mothers may be encouraged to bring small glass, non-aluminum(can carry toxins) containers to store an oil, salve, or tincture in.   Whatever is supplied will be given out first come, first serve.
