May 2014 meeting

We meet this Thursday 6:30 pm at the Foursquare church on 40th
This month we have a special speaker-

Here the credentials for Sarah Hunter, speaker for the homeschool mom's

-Tracy's former 4th grade student all grown up (I will be bringing a picture of Sarah as a fourth grader.)
-Degree from Western Washington University in Culinary Nutrition, which she created with permission from the University.
-Spent 4 months in Italy studying the significance of herbs they use there and the history surrounding them.
-Did her senior project for college in an elementary school in Bellingham where she helped them create a school garden, created recipes, menus, and meals.  Here goal was to teach students and teachers to think differently about the foods they were choosing to eat, and not just to eat because of convenience.
-Sarah took a class on oils and learned the healing aspects of them.
-Sarah has had a passion for the world that God has given us, and sees the benefits of using things grown in nature to nourish and heal our bodies.
-Sarah makes her own salves, oils creations, tinctures, and lip balms.
-She has worked as a flight attendant, but is currently on maternity leave.
-She attends Memorial Bible in Gleed.

She will be sharing some books that have inspired her to use herbs to both nourish and heal.  Sarah will demonstrate how easy it is to make either some or all of the following:  teas, tonics, oils, salves, and tinctures.  Those attending will either be allowed to make either one, or more of the following:  oil, salve, or tincture.  Mothers may be encouraged to bring small glass, non-aluminum(can carry toxins) containers to store an oil, salve, or tincture in.   Whatever is supplied will be given out first come, first serve.

Next Meeting January 9

Hello Everyone!
West Valley Support Group meeting will be held on January 9th at 6:30pmat Yakima Foursquare Church on 40th. Normally we meet the first Thursday of each month but because of it being so close to New Year's, we opted to change the date! Also, you do not have to be a member to come be part of this group. For those of you who haven't attended, we are a Christian based homeschool support group. We usually try to come without our children but if you need to bring your little person in order to come then you are welcome to. We usually try to bring a snack to share but that is just optional.
I have been attending this group since I started homeschooling and it has been a life saver for me. The many times I wanted to quit, this group encouraged me in ways that kept me going in the direction God had already lead me to. Some of my closest friends have been made in this group. I just can't say enough about it. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. Hope to see some of you there~

Merry Christmas to you all!

January meeting
30 meals in a day.  Come hear how you can do all your cooking for several months in ONE day!  But if that freaks you out, come hear about meals for a week.  If you're still overwhelmed, come see how you can cut cooking time in half.  There will be an idea for everyone to take home and try out!  Liesl makes 120 meals at one time for $500...come see how!
(double every recipe by bulking up on STEALTH VEGGIES so that you lower the amount of meat your family eats....)
It's a process and leisle shows you how to do this with your own favorite recipes!

"Going to that first debate tournament actually gave me hope for our nation in a way I had never before experienced.  I saw and heard these young Christian men and women preparing themselves with the writing, speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills so desperately needed in our world today-they were in many ways demonstrating the best of the homeschool world as I knew it.  I was profoundly inspired." Andrew Pudewa (www.excellenceinwriting.com)
